About International SMS messaging

Webex Interact allows businesses to send SMS messages globally. By default, messaging is enabled for the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Spain. To send messages to additional countries, enable international SMS from dashboard or the "create campaign" page in your account.

Enabling International SMS

Every country has unique SMS regulations, such as sender name registration and content restrictions. Make sure to review the Global SMS Guidelines for compliance requirements.

To enable international SMS, you need to provide your company details.

  • Submit your company details: Before enabling International SMS for your account, our team will validate your company details and find out a bit more about your needs.
  • Wait for confirmation: We recommend waiting until you receive validation from the Webex Interact team before you add balance intended specifically for international use. We will notify you once your request is approved.

Note:

  • Purchases made before receiving confirmation are non-refundable.
  • Failure to provide the required business information may result in your application being declined.

Pricing for International SMS

Sending international SMS generally costs more than domestic messages, due to varying rates across countries. Here’s how pricing is determined:

  • Country-specific rate cards: Each country has its own rate card that outlines the cost of sending messages there. The rate applied to your campaign depends on the specific rate card for that country.
  • Custom rates: Custom rates will be applied to your campaigns based on the rate card. Use the pricing estimator to calculate the costs of sending messages to different countries.

Key guidelines for sending SMS globally

  • Check supported countries - ensure the countries you wish to message are supported and enable International SMS for any unsupported countries.
  • Use E.164 Format - When sending messages globally, ensure phone numbers adhere to the E.164 format with the correct country code.
  • Comply with country-specific regulations – Each country has unique SMS rules to avoid message blocking.
  • SMS costs vary by destination country; use the pricing estimator for cost planning.
