July 2026 Release
This release focuses on getting you ready for WhatsApp Business changes coming in 2026, making auto top-ups more dependable, and improving accessibility and reliability across the platform. Here's what's changing and what it means for you.
WhatsApp: staying reachable as numbers change
WhatsApp is moving away from relying on plain phone numbers to identify recipients. To keep your WhatsApp campaigns landing reliably, Webex Interact now recognises WhatsApp Business identifiers (a unique per-contact ID and your WhatsApp account ID) alongside the phone number.
What's changing for you:
- Contacts now store WhatsApp identity. Contact records can hold a WhatsApp Business ID, WhatsApp account ID, and WhatsApp username, so a contact stays reachable even when a phone number alone isn't enough.
- Imports understand WhatsApp fields. When you upload or paste a contact list, you can map these new WhatsApp fields as columns, and choose to merge duplicates based on WhatsApp identity rather than only phone number.
- Contacts without a phone number can still be reached on WhatsApp if they have valid WhatsApp identifiers.
- Clearer targeting. Contacts that are reachable on WhatsApp are correctly included when you filter your audience, and campaign costs and contact counts reflect your true reachable audience.
- Reporting and exports include WhatsApp identity, so your delivery reports and exported files line up with how contacts were actually reached.
- Inbox shows WhatsApp details. Conversations display the WhatsApp username and identifiers, making it easier to recognise who you're talking to.
- Opt-outs respect WhatsApp identity. Opt-out handling now checks both the WhatsApp ID and the phone number, so a customer who opts out stays opted out across both.
Why it matters: Your WhatsApp audiences stay accurate and reachable through the upcoming WhatsApp changes, with fewer failed messages and more trustworthy reporting.
Payments: more dependable auto top-ups
We've made automatic wallet top-ups safer and clearer.
What's changing for you:
- No more repeated charges on a blocked card. If a payment method can't be used, the system stops retrying instead of attempting the same top-up again and again.
- Cleaner recovery after a failure. When an auto top-up fails, the related settings are reset consistently so you can review and re-enable them deliberately, and the interface reflects this clearly.
- Correct failure notifications. If an auto top-up fails, you'll now receive the up-to-date notification email with accurate details.
Why it matters: Fewer surprises on your payment method, clearer status when something needs your attention, and communications you can trust.
Accessibility improvements
We've continued making Webex Interact easier to use for everyone, including keyboard and screen-reader users.
What's changing for you:
- Charts and graphs can now be explored using the keyboard, not just the mouse.
- Keyboard focus behaves more predictably in dialogs and after sorting, with a clearly visible focus indicator.
- Pressing Esc closes a tooltip without unexpectedly closing the whole dialog.
- A new warning pop-up with a countdown lets you know before you're signed out for inactivity, so you can stay logged in and avoid losing work.
Why it matters: A smoother, more inclusive experience and fewer interruptions while you work.
Reliability and reporting fixes
- Reports project list no longer cut short. When choosing projects in API Reports, the full list is now shown rather than stopping at the first few.
- Steadier performance under load. We resolved an issue that could exhaust system connections, improving stability during busy periods.
- Cleaner error messages. Behind-the-scenes error details are no longer exposed, giving you tidier, safer messaging.
Security and platform maintenance
This release includes a broad round of security updates and behind-the-scenes maintenance across the platform.
What this means for you: No action is required. Your data and communications benefit from the latest security improvements, with no change to how you use Webex Interact day to day.
Do I need to do anything?
For most customers, no action is required — these improvements apply automatically.
If you send WhatsApp campaigns, we recommend reviewing your contact lists and imports to take advantage of the new WhatsApp identity fields, so your audiences stay fully reachable as WhatsApp's changes take effect.
